introducing the Red Robin

At the moment most of my writing days are devoted to my second project, because I’m trying to get a first draft finished in time to submit it to the Text Prize. (A first draft will not be prize-winning material, but external goals work for me.)

I realised yesterday that I’ve never mentioned this project on my blog! I still primarily consider myself a romance writer – that’s still the majority of what I read and think about and develop in moments of brain-lull.

But I am also writing a Young Adult novel, and it’s a genre I’ve been devoted to every since I was a teen. (On a side note, I read a lot as a teenager, and about 75% of the authors I read were Australian. I almost never read Australian authors as an adult. This says something.)

You can find a description of the project – where the idea came from, what the Red Robin is, etc. – at red robin: project overview. I have also posted a blurb and the first chapter as it stands.

I look around, and here I am - housewife and aspiring romance novelist. This seems unexpected.
